A council of Latinx high school students from across Southwest Detroit that meet regularly to learn about social justice, community development, explore their cultural history, and to share their knowledge through community-building projects.
Other Youth Programming
YICD
Founding members of the collaborative work to expose youth to the intricacies of community development and the importance of their involvement within their communities. Promoting the power of voice, advocacy, and power of organizing. Providing the curriculum teachings to students at local high schools and as a part of our direct programs.
A group of Southwest Detroit high schoolers that meet regularly to learn about the environment and its direct impact on the youth and their community. This program offers a comprehensive learning experience for those who are passionate about wellness, caring for the land, and their community.
YCA
A partnership composed of youth from several Southwest based organizations. This program aims to build connections between youth and expose them to local climate justice initiatives by exploring climate change impacts on their local community and developing the skills to take action through community organizing.
YOC
Selective group of high school youth representatives who work together for Detroit education justice. Training young leaders in community organizing and campaigns for systemic changes like better school facilities, mental health resources, and the over policing within the schools.
GDYT
Site placement for Southwest Detroit youth who have an interest in land management, gardening, community development, and organizing. Six weeks of summer programming where youth come together to learn, grow their skills, and execute a project that will leave a lasting impact on their community.
